Overview

Experience a guided tour of the OpenText™ Core Product Traceability Service, a platform that improves supply chain visibility, safeguards brands against illicit activities, and encourages direct consumer engagement through digital product tracking.

Use Case

End-to-End Product Traceability

The service enables organizations to assign unique digital identifiers (such as secure serialized QR codes) to every product. These identifiers allow for real-time tracking and authentication throughout the supply chain, from manufacturing to consumer delivery.

Supply Chain Monitoring and Brand Protection

Users like Simon, a Senior Director of Supply Chain Operations, can monitor for illicit activities such as counterfeiting, theft, and unauthorized distribution. The platform provides real-time dashboards, anomaly detection through customizable business rules, and immediate alerts for suspicious activities. This helps prevent revenue loss and reputational damage from counterfeit or diverted products.

Real-Time Data and Analytics

The Command Center dashboard offers insights into product activity, including authentication events, scan locations, and trends. Users can drill down to individual product records, view scan histories, and export data for further analysis. The system highlights unusual scan patterns (e.g., high scan counts in multiple countries) to quickly identify potential issues.

Product and Inventory Management

The platform allows for comprehensive management of product data, including manufacturing details, batch numbers, and expiry dates. Users can track shipments, analyze inventory at each supply chain node, and generate traceability event reports for specific items or shipments.

Supply Chain Node Visualization

Users can review and update the network of manufacturers, distributors, and retailers, ensuring all supply chain connections are accurately represented and monitored.

Customer Engagement and Marketing

Clare, the Director of Customer Experience, leverages the platform to connect with consumers via QR codes on products. These codes provide access to product information, how-to guides, promotions, and loyalty programs. The system supports customizable landing pages, data collection for marketing, and automated messaging to consumers after product validation.

Market Insights and Scan Analysis

The platform offers analytics on consumer scan activity, allowing filtering by product, date, and location. This helps organizations understand market engagement and the effectiveness of anti-counterfeiting measures.

About Guided-Tours

Guided-tours are a safe and engaging way to learn, without the complexity and infrastructure requirements of a full scale implementation. Each tour is designed to simulate the real application using interactive HTML to guide you step-by- step through the exercises, in exactly the same way you would work with a live system. And as instructions are embedded into the guided-tour, there is no need for a detailed workbook for this lab - the following pages are therefore provided just to give you some helpful hints about how to get the most out of the Guided-Tour application (Walnut)

Hyperlinks and Guides

Walnut allows our engineers to capture the experience of a real-product by adding interactive links to HTML screens from the actual product. For example, when an operator clicks on a menu option, he/she is taken to the next screen in the sequence. The only difference therefore, between what you see on a click-tour and what you would see in the live application, is that your path through the sequence of screens is pre-scripted.

To make it easy to follow, we’ve added high-lights on the screens showing you where to click, and captions to help you to understand what's going on.

Using the navigation bar

Each tour is comprised of a number use-case scenarios. You can run through the scenarios in order, or use the navigator provided at the bottom left of each screen to open the table of contents to jump into a specific use case.

If you get lost, or if you want to jump to a different place in the lab, just remeber to use the navigation menu to take you where you want to go.

Walnut has built in responsive design enabling the tour to auto-size to your browser window – we do however, recommend that you maximize your browser window for the best experience.

That’s all there is to it!

  • Guided-Tours are best viewed on a desktop screen with Full HD (1920 x 1080 or better resolution).
