OSPF Failover Demo
This executive demonstrates the detection of a problem in an OSPF router configuration.
When the interface traffic falls outside a defined threshold, the NOC operator receives a notification via e-mail, which identifies the problematic router and interface and a link to the incident. The message indicates low utilization on a critical router. From the incident the operator can quickly navigate to the Performance Troubleshooter which indicates a Configuration Change at the time the traffic drop is noticed. From the config change the operator navigates to NA and reviews the changes in the configuration, only to notice that a change was made to the OSPF configuration of the router and removing the interface from the routing protocol.
Returning to PT, the operator initiates the remediation via a one-time change plan. Returning to NNM the operator can validate that the interfaces is running correctly again and the problem has been remediated.
Interface Disable Remediation Demo
This executive demonstrates the detection of a problem in an OSPF router configuration.
In this executive demo we use Performance Troubleshooting to identify an "Interface Down" incident and mitigate it by invoking a change plan. During the analysis phase we note that the icmp roundtrip between two adjacent Juniper router is significantly higher than normal. We correlate the increase in round-trip time with a change that occurred in the infrastructure, where one of the router interfaces was shut down, forcing the traffic to choose a more circuitous route, hence increasing the round-trip time. Once the interface is brought back up, using a change plan, the network operations returns to normal and traffic time is decreased within the acceptable range.
